An Educator will lead a tour which will be remotely transcribed in real time by a CART captioner. The captions will be accessed via visitors’ smart phones. The Museum will provide a few devices to borrow. Each tour is an hour and a half long, followed by a reception featuring local Lower East Side foods.

Discover how immigrants survived economic depressions at 97 Orchard Street between 1863 and 1935. Visit the restored homes of the German-Jewish Gumpertz family, whose patriarch disappeared during the Panic of 1873, and the Italian-Catholic Baldizzi family, who lived through the Great Depression.
