Out of Bounds—Multisensory Tour of “Mire Lee: Black Sun”

Experience a multisensory tour of Mire Lee’s exhibition “Black Sun” with educator Paula Stuttman. Participants will be guided through the exhibition with spoken descriptions and will have opportunities to touch objects from the artist’s studio.
This tour is accessible for blind and low vision visitors and open to all interested visitors.

Out of Bounds is a series of talks, readings, performances, and more that seeks to expand how we think about what’s on display in the New Museum. Bringing together artists, specialists, and workers from fields beyond the art world, these engagements expand on themes found in the artworks and exhibitions on view.

Check-in for this program will be in the Lobby at 10:45 a.m., before the Museum opens. When everyone has arrived the tour will go up to the Fourth Floor.

ACCESSIBILITY
Stools without backs will be provided while in the galleries, and chairs with backs will be provided during the second part of the tour. A checklist with images will be provided via email to registrants prior to the tour.

ABOUT THE EDUCATOR
Paula Stuttman (b. 1959, New York, NY she/they) is an artist who works in drawing, painting and video. She is a Part-Time Assistant Professor at The New School where she teaches contemporary art and museum studies. Through museum education—with an emphasis on accessibility—she navigates the social experience of sharing art together.
