“Designing Communication Strategies to Create Accessible Cultural Institution Experiences”

November 1, 2017

This workshop is for those who work with or visit cultural institutions. You will learn about various tools and methods to help give everyone a voice. Using various creative methods, alternative communication techniques, and Assistive Technology you will learn how to make a more meaningful conversation happen. It is organized to give tools to visitors, teachers, and cultural institution staff including: the receptionist at the front desk, ushers, guards, docents, educators, and administrators in order to create a more participatory experience for individuals with disabilities who visit cultural institutions. Following presentations, time is allocated to talk, ask questions, and sample some of the technology used to facilitate communication. We encourage everyone to participate and to express their thoughts.

The speakers come from various backgrounds including Educators, Therapists, Assistive Technology Specialists, and representative from Cultural Institutions.
