Conference Presentation: American Alliance of Museums Annual Meeting and Expo

On May 28, 2016, MAC presented at the American Alliance of Museums (AAM) Annual Meeting and Expo.  Along with the New York Transit Museum, El Museo del Barrio, and Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum, MAC presented a session titled, “Transforming the Workplace: Autism-Friendly Hiring Practices.” Participants enjoyed an overview of the Supporting Transitions project followed by three stories from the cultural institutions about serving adults with autism. Stories shared a strengths-based approach to engaging adults with autism and detailed the steps taken to build programs and initiatives, the day to day operations of such programs, and the benefits these programs brought to the cultural organizations, participants, and the community at large.
