Brought to life by the prolific, award-winning producer Venus Cuffs, Spotlight: Strange Fruit is an artistic intervention created to offer a new point of view, one that insists history must not repeat itself. Inspired by Billie Holiday’s haunting and powerful performance of “Strange Fruit”—a protest song born from one of America’s most painful chapters—this show honors the resilience, strength, and enduring legacy of African Americans. Through dance and spoken word, this new work reframes the iconic anti-lynching anthem as a timeless expression of power, remembrance, and resolve for modern times.
