The Pratt Manhattan Gallery welcomes art-loving individuals to join us at the gallery for our current exhibition, The Data We Called Home, by the award-winning artist Hsin-Chien Huang.
Seeing the world via a donated cornea, Huang dedicated his artistic career to creating narratives of different lives through art and technology. The works showcased in the artist’s first solo exhibition in New York City include four virtual reality installations. These VR installations and their interactive features enable guests to fly through virtual space while seated on accessible platforms and experience life beyond time and space limitations.
Through the VR works alongside sculptures and videos, the show remaps Taiwanese folklore, the ethics of digital surveillance, space exploration, and the body-mind dichotomy, and presents new perspectives on the immersive possibilities of multimedia art practices. The exhibition also features two seminal collaborations with artist Laurie Anderson.
The exhibition is free to visit. For group visits, please email exhibits@pratt.edu.
