Art of the Diorama in North American Mammals
Saturday, July 25
1:30pm-2:30pm

The Bernard Family Hall of North American Mammals features over 40 remarkable scenes that invite the viewer to enter another world, a world of amazing animals and magical landscapes. This hour-long tour will focus on some of the most famous of the dioramas in the Hall, including the Alaskan Brown Bear, the Bison—Pronhorn display, and one of the few nighttime dioramas in the museum: The Minnesota wolves. You’ll not only learn about how the dioramas were constructed (some took nearly two years to make!) but how each of these treasures combines art, science, and history to tell a story about North America and its extraordinary array of wildlife.
