Musician, author, and director Amyra León cannot be contained by genre or medium. The Harlem native promises to explore her multitudes in a performance that melds jazz with spoken word, poetry, and song. León’s voice, tone, and perspective echo the likes of Nina Simone, and her often autobiographical work similarly focuses on Black liberation, generational trauma, and authenticity. A MacDowell Fellow and Artist in Residence at the Vineyard Theatre, León’s solo work has also been featured in an NAACP Award-nominated PBS American Masters documentary.
