AFROPUNK + LINCOLN CENTER

AFROPUNK and Lincoln Center come together for their largest collaboration to date, a 2-day festival takeover celebrating the Black woman’s journey to find her voice through music and performance. Audiences can expect an immersive multidisciplinary experience that represents the razor’s edge in music, art, poetry, dance, performance art, and much more—all proudly featuring Black women artists from around the world. As AFROPUNK continues to redefine the multicultural experience, this world-renowned, Brooklyn-based festival has expanded its reach and its mission to include a wide variety of events, partnerships, documentaries and programs that aim to uplift, educate and create space for marginalized communities, particularly a safe space for Black alternative culture. This can’t-miss, taste-making experience promises to represent the epitome of the AFROPUNK ethos.

Friday,February 24 at Alice Tully Hall: Day 1 centers around the theme of agony —the Black woman’s journey to find her voice through self-expression. Through music, poetry, and performance, we unpack HERstory with story narration, as well as video and performances from UMI, Celisse, Danielle Ponder, aja monet, Mahogany L. Browne, and Ebony Williams.

Saturday, February 25 at David Geffen Hall: Day 2 continues the story as we move into the second half of the journey—ecstasy. This day leans into the strength of the Black woman’s voice. Similar to Friday, this story will be explored through video and performances from India.Arie, Mereba, Celisse, Danielle Ponder, aja monet, Mahogany L. Browne, and Ebony Williams.
