Social Narrative for School Group Visits to the New York Transit Museum

We are going to the New York Transit Museum. In the Museum, we can learn all different types of things about New York City transit. When we arrive at the Museum, we will see steps that lead us underground. The Museum is an old subway station and looks just like a station you would see today!
Once we are downstairs, we will be greeted by a Transit Museum educator. Our educator will take us through the Museum and help us learn about New York City transportation. If I need help, I can ask my Museum educator.
If we are eating lunch before our tour, we will go to the lunch room at the back of the Museum to eat.
If we are eating lunch after our tour, we will put our lunches in bins.
On our tour we might go to the Steel, Stone, and Backbone exhibit. In this exhibit I can learn about how the New York City subway was made. The room is a narrow hallway with a lot of old pictures and objects from the subway that I can touch.
We might walk through old subway turnstiles and learn about subway tokens.
We might go to the back of the Museum and learn about buses and trolleys. There are even two old buses for me to go inside.
We might go to the electricity exhibit and learn about electricity in the subway. In this exhibit I can touch different objects to show how electricity is made.
We will also go downstairs on to the platform and walk into old train cars and see a signal tower.
Sometimes the Museum can be loud because there are a lot of school groups in the space.
If I need a break, I can let my teacher or Transit Museum educator know.
When it is time for our class to leave, I can exit through the red turnstiles. I hope I can come back to the Museum soon and learn more about New York City transit!
