On Saturday May 24th, at 10 a.m., Morris-Jumel Mansion, Manhattan’s oldest house, will host a soft-sculpture class designed for children with autism. Attendees will use a variety of media — which MJM will provide, though attendees are welcome to bring their own — to create plush, colorful sculptures that will be theirs to keep. The event is free with museum admission ($10 per adult; children under 12 are free). Attendees are free to tour the Mansion, former residence of George Washington and current home to “Yinka Shonibare MBE: Colonial Arrangements,” a site-specific exhibition of new and classic work by world-renowned textile artist Yinka Shonibare MBE.
