Relaxed Performances of Amy and the Orphans off-Broadway

Don’t miss Jamie Brewer in this new off-Broadway play from Roundabout Theatre Company. She plays Amy, a woman with Down syndrome who reunites with her adult siblings for a rollicking road trip after their father’s death. Together, they careen down the Great American Long Island Expressway, navigating strip malls, traffic jams and some serious (and not-so-serious) family drama. An unexpected turn reveals the moment that changed their lives…and the fact that Amy may be the only one who knows her own mind.

Amy and the Orphans opens March 1, 2018 and closes April 22, 2018. Roundabout will offer two relaxed performances on April 11 at 2:00 and April 18 at 7:30. These performances are adjusted slightly to create an inclusive theatrical environment for individuals with special needs and those attending with them.

Technical modifications and supports include:

• Reduced sound levels.
• House lights remaining at a low level. The audience is never completely in the dark.
• A social narrative that describes the events of the day. This document is provided in advance and may be individualized to suit the needs of those attending the performance.
• A break area in case patrons would like to step out of the performance during the show. Individuals may access the break area as well as enter the performance as needed.
• Assistive communication devices as well as comfort items are welcomed.
