Mind’s Eye at the Guggenheim – Mystical and Macabre

The Guggenheim is continuing to celebrate the ideas, people, and art at the core of its mission by offering Mind’s Eye programming for participants who are blind or have low vision. Join us for virtual programs in October celebrating the spooky season.

We’ll be exploring artworks from the Guggenheim’s collection with our antennae tuned to the eerie frequency. Go beyond the grave to explore art connected to the afterlife. Discover the unseen presences that might be haunting some artists’ work. Listen to new spooky stories about some familiar artworks. (Never fear, this program is safe for those who—like your educator—are scared of ghostly tales.)

October Mind’s Eye programming will be led by educator Rachel Ropeik through verbal description and conversation. The sessions will be accessible by web link or by dial-in phone number, depending on your preference.

Please select a date: Monday, October 23 from 6:30-8:30pm or Wednesday, October 25 from 2:00-4:00pm

Free, but space is limited. RSVP is required three days before the program. To RSVP, call 212 360 4355 or email access@guggenheim.org.

Program Image Description
Short sharp slashes of black intersecting across the canvas against a bright background of yellows and oranges give the impression of refracted light. In the style of Rayism, sections of black and brown in various geometric and triangular shapes indicate two black cats along the left and right side of the canvas, with a brown tabby between them, towards the bottom center.
