Join Us As We Come Together
On May 1st, International Workers’ Day, the Doris Duke Foundation launches Creative Labor, Creative Conditions – a national coalition and campaign championing artists as creative laborers and the need to provide them with proper resources, compensation and support to live and work.
Choral artist Troy Anthony and The Fire Ensemble will lead an hour-long musical gathering in Times Square. Produced by theater artist Kaneza Schaal, six different performing arts groups will join Anthony and The Fire Ensemble to welcome everyone—performers, audience members, and passersby—in collective song and solidarity. Amid rising threats to the artistic community, this Times Square performance activation aims to celebrate artists, and recognize their labor as essential and deserving of resources, compensation, and support to live, work, and thrive.
Whether you come to sing or simply to listen and be in community with us, we invite you to be part of this celebration. We hope to see you there!
Presented by the Doris Duke Foundation in partnership with The Fire Ensemble and Times Square Arts.
