Engaging Day Habilitation Participants: Inclusive Cultural Partnerships
Calling all cultural organizations! Join the Museum, Arts and Culture Access Consortium (MAC) and the Supporting Transitions project in a workshop to increase opportunities for adults with autism and developmental disabilities who attend day habilitation programs.
The day habilitation participant population is an often underserved group of adults with developmental and multiple disabilities, eager for cultural engagement but facing many obstacles to participation in programming offered by cultural institutions. This workshop will present varied models for engaging this group and explore logistical and programmatic considerations when designing accessibility initiatives in this area.
Hosted at HeartShare Human Services of New York, an agency that operates 11 day habilitation programs, the workshop will share information and best practices form HeartShare’s work as well as AHRC NYC, a service organization with a comprehensive Adult Day Services department, and several cultural organizations currently collaborating with day habilitation centers.
Join MAC for this workshop and learn more about partnering with day habilitation providers.
