17 Jul The Future of Cultural Access: A Spotlight on Disability Artistry (Remote event on Zoom)
What does it mean to put disability at the center of art and innovation? What does universal accessibility look like when artists and institutions work in true partnership? Join MAC in conversation with disabled artists and organization leaders, as we spotlight collaborations that have challenged the field of arts and culture and how we can learn from those experiences to establish a more inclusive and justice-oriented approach to the arts and accessibility.
This workshop will start with a panel addressing: How can we look to disabled artistic leaders who work at the nexus of Disability Justice and artistry to guide us towards an accessible cultural landscape? Then, move into a facilitated community conversation in breakout rooms, to dial up conversation and have a learning and dreaming exchange.
This event will take place on Zoom and last 1.5 hours. There will be a live CART captioner and ASL interpreters. To request additional accommodations, please contact programs@macaccess.org
The panel portion will be moderated by Madison Zalopany. We will be joined by artists Kayla Hamilton, Founder of Circle O, Danielle Coles, performer from Radical Joy Ball by ADAPT Community Network and The Whitney, and Alex Dolores Salerno, Interdisciplinary Artist.
