SUMMARY:Free Off-Broadway Audio Described Performance — In the Amazon Warehouse Parking Lot at Playwrights Horizon
DESCRIPTION:We at Playwrights Horizons are excited to extend an invitation to a Touch Tour & Audio Described performance of Sarah Mantell’s In the Amazon Warehouse Parking Lot on Thursday\, November 7th\, 2024 at 7:30 pm.\n\nAbout In the Amazon Warehouse Parking Lot:\nAs the oceans rise\, a band of queer warehouse workers travel from job to job\, running from the encroaching coastline. An unlikely love story\, and a startling new work of speculative fiction\, In the Amazon Warehouse Parking Lot is a quietly revolutionary tale of queer aging\, chosen family\, and the search for home in a volatile world.\n\n\nAbout the Touch Tour & Audio Described Performance:\nIn the context of out theater productions\, an audio described performance improves access for blind or low vision theatergoers by providing a live verbal commentary on the visual elements of a production\, broadcast through a headset. Delivered around the dialogue\, it describes action that is essential to the understanding of the story\, as well as information such as the set\, costumes\, facial expressions\, and visual jokes that might otherwise be missed. Our audio describer articulates the design and direction on stage via a personal listening device. Devices (both DLDs & ALDs) are available for check out at the concessions stand\, photo ID required.\n\n\nAn optional touch tour precedes the performance\, giving participants an opportunity to go on stage\, meet the cast\, and have a tactile experience with key set\, costume and props. Service animals\, 1:1 companions\, and family & friends are welcome on the Touch Tours. To address any economic barriers\, we have various ticketing options available\, including complimentary tickets—we have reserved 30 free tickets. Patrons should please email community@phnyc.org and we will give tickets from the 30 free tickets we held for groups if available. We also have tickets priced as low as $10 through the FREE Access Passport. (Please use the Access Passport for tickets that include the touch tour and headset.) The Playwrights Horizons Access Passport empowers patrons to enjoy theater on your terms. Members receive concierge service  that begins with priority booking\, premium seating\, assistance booking tickets\, by request enhanced content details for each production\, night of companion assistance provided by trained Access Assistants to aid audience members with disabilities (with advance notification) – all along with subsidized ticket prices. With the Access Passport\, patrons gain access to discounted tickets for themselves and a companion for any accessible performance that meets their needs\, all at no upfront cost!\n\n\nTo address any economic barriers\, we have various ticketing options available\, including complimentary tickets—we have reserved 30 free tickets.
