DESCRIPTION:Families in the ASL community with kids ages 5-12 are invited to an exciting Hanukkah Family Day at the Jewish Museum. \nFirst\, join for an interpreted concert to enjoy the catchy pop tunes of Joanie Leeds to bring in the holiday. Afterwards\, create art in the galleries and art studios in a program led by Joyce Hom. SUMMARY:Jewish Museum: ASL Tour: Identity\, Culture\, and Community: Stories from the Collections of the Jewish Museum
DESCRIPTION:Participants in the ASL community are invited to explore the exhibition Identity\, Culture\, and Community: Stories from the Collections of the Jewish Museum through a tour led by a Deaf educator. \nThe Jewish Museum’s collection galleries trace the rich history of Jewish culture across the global diaspora. It will explore topics such as Jewish ritual\, migration\, memory\, identity\, feminist art\, and how Jewish identity and experience are being interpreted in contemporary works. The two floor installation will be joined visually by a monumentally scaled installation of more than 120 Hanukkah lamps\, underscoring the central meaning of light as a symbol of enlightenment and hope across cultures. \nDue to limited capacity\, ASL students will not be admitted to the program and no voice interpretation will be provided.  \nAll Access Programs are free of charge and require advance reservation. Join us for a multi-sensory experience\, exploring the Jewish Museum’s collection and creating your own artwork inspired by what’s on view. \nThis program will have three options to join: \nAges 5 – 17\, In-Person: 11 am – 12:30 pm\nAges 18 and up\, In-Person: 2 – 4 pm\nAll ages\, Virtual: 2 – 3:30 pm\nPlease indicate which group you would like to register for. \nAll Access Programs are free of charge and require advance reservation.
