Artsi Ifrah is the creative talent behind Maison ARTC\, a leading Marrakech-based fashion label whose work is on view in the exhibition. Kehinde Wiley is both one of the world’s foremost painters and the founder of Black Rock Senegal\, which brings together international artists to live and work in Dakar. All three will speak with award-winning Lagos- and Brooklyn-based journalist Lola Ogunnaike\, providing insight into the creative renaissance taking place across Africa. \nTickets are $30 and include after-hours admission to Africa Fashion. DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, June 18\, 2023 \n2–6 pm \nThroughout the Museum \n\nCelebrate Juneteenth—the annual holiday commemorating the end of legal slavery in the United States—with a full slate of activities celebrating self-expression\, community\, and Black liberation and creativity. \nSchedule: \n2–3 pm: Performance of Webbed Fugues by Renegade Performance Group \nAuditorium\, 3rd Floor\nInspired by Dr. Nadine George-Graves’s writing on “diasporic spidering\,” or webs of people of African descent across the globe\, this dance performance honors the power of lineage. Webbed Fugues features choreography and projection designs by creative director André M. Zachery and music by Charles Vincent Burwell and Jeremy Toussaint-Baptiste.
