SUMMARY:Guggenheim Mind's Eye: Harmony and Dissonance
DESCRIPTION:The Guggenheim celebrates the ideas\, people\, and art at the core of its mission by offering virtual and in-person Mind’s Eye programming for participants who are blind or have low vision. Join us this month for a second tour of the exhibition Harmony and Dissonance: Orphism in Paris\, 1910–1930. Prior attendance at the first program in November is not necessary to enjoy this new exploration\, which features additional artworks. \nOrphism emerged in the early 1910s\, when the innovations brought about by modern life were radically altering conceptions of time and space. Artists connected to Orphism engaged with ideas of simultaneity in kaleidoscopic compositions\, investigating the transformative possibilities of color\, form\, and motion. Selected works by artists including Robert Delaunay\, Sonia Delaunay\, Marcel Duchamp\, Mainie Jellett\, František Kupka\, Francis Picabia\, and Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso\, and by the Synchromists Stanton Macdonald-Wright and Morgan Russell\, will be on view. \nThis month’s Mind’s Eye programming will be led by artist and educator Maya Jeffereis through verbal description and conversation. The virtual session will be accessible by web link or by dial-in phone number\, depending on your preference. \nThe same program will be offered twice virtually and twice in person; please RSVP for only one session. \nIn-person programs: \n\nMonday\, March 3\, 6:30-8:30pm Eastern\nWednesday\, March 5\, 2:00-4:00pm Eastern\n\nVirtual programs: \n\nMonday\, March 10\, 6:30-8:30pm Eastern\nWednesday\, March 12\, 2:00-4:00pm Eastern\n\nFree\, but space is limited. RSVP is required three days before the program. To RSVP\, call 212 360 4355 or email access@guggenheim.org.

SUMMARY:Museum Hue Virtual Town Hall
DESCRIPTION:Join Museum Hue for a free virtual town hall as we usher in our 10th year anniversary. We will share our strategic plan\, ongoing projects\, and unveil HueCultures Northeast—the first phase of a national research initiative to amplify\, map\, and connect culturally-specific institutions led by Black\, Indigenous\, Latino/x\, Asian\, and all People of Color. Building on the success of HueArts New York City and New York State\, this project highlights an additional 150 cultural institutions in the Northeastern United States that play a vital role in preserving and celebrating our history. \nThis town hall is an opportunity for arts professionals\, cultural workers\, researchers\, and arts advocates to come together\, learn\, and be part of a larger movement toward equity in the cultural sector. In addition to an exclusive first look at new research findings and insights\, we’ll raise awareness of museums and cultural centers shaping the region\, and share thoughts with others invested in this work. Stephanie Johnson-Cunningham\, Executive Director of Museum Hue\, will lead the discussion and will be joined by guest speakers. \nRSVP today and join us in this important conversation! \nThis event will be ASL interpreted on Zoom for participants from the Deaf\, hard-of-hearing\, and ASL communities. Please email us to let us know if you plan to use ASL interpretation or have other accessibility requests: info@museumhue.com

SUMMARY:Tribute to Poly Styrene
DESCRIPTION:This year’s American Songbook celebrates the voices of women and nonbinary performers who have not only shaped the landscape of music\, but have also driven important conversations on gender\, identity\, and empowerment. Galvanized by a Sex Pistols concert\, the UK-born Marion Elliot adapted the sobriquet Poly Styrene\, formed a band and then promptly changed the history of rock by recording the seminal punk anthem Oh Bondage! Up Yours! Poly Styrene would only release one album in the 1970s\, but Germ Free Adolescents would prove to be one of the most influential LPs of its era. For this evening of music by and inspired by Poly Styrene and her band X-Ray Spex\, the American Songbook band—featuring Keyanna Hutchinson (guitar)\, Barbara Duncan (percussion)\, Flora Lucini (bass)\, and Elenna Canlas (keyboards and vocals)—will be joined by an array of musical luminaries\, all paying their respects to a true punk pioneer.
