SUMMARY:A Sonic Journey Through San Juan Hill with Mathis Picard
DESCRIPTION:Pianist and composer Mathis Picard presents a program of music that explores the lasting musical heritage of San Juan Hill and uplifts its diverse cultures. Performing alongside special guests\, he leads the audience on a musical journey through the historic neighborhood\, uncovering the rhythms and sounds of the communities that lived there in the first half of the 20th century. \nThis event is part of Lincoln Center Moments\, a free performance-based program specially designed for individuals with dementia and their caregivers. \nPerformances at 11:00 am are Relaxed Performances\, designed for a neurodiverse audience. In addition to audiences impacted by dementia\, these performances are also open to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. \nPerformances at 1:00 pm are followed by an hour-long workshop specially designed for audiences impacted by dementia—facilitated by educators and music therapists that explore the work through discussion\, movement\, music\, and art-making.
