DESCRIPTION:The Guggenheim celebrates the ideas\, people\, and art at the core of its mission by offering virtual and in-person Mind’s Eye programming for participants who are blind or have low vision. Join us this month for a second tour of the exhibition Harmony and Dissonance: Orphism in Paris\, 1910–1930. Prior attendance at the first program in November is not necessary to enjoy this new exploration\, which features additional artworks. \nOrphism emerged in the early 1910s\, when the innovations brought about by modern life were radically altering conceptions of time and space. Artists connected to Orphism engaged with ideas of simultaneity in kaleidoscopic compositions\, investigating the transformative possibilities of color\, form\, and motion. Selected works by artists including Robert Delaunay\, Sonia Delaunay\, Marcel Duchamp\, Mainie Jellett\, František Kupka\, Francis Picabia\, and Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso\, and by the Synchromists Stanton Macdonald-Wright and Morgan Russell\, will be on view. \nThis month’s Mind’s Eye programming will be led by artist and educator Maya Jeffereis through verbal description and conversation. SUMMARY:ACCESS JRM: Sensory-Friendly Hours
DESCRIPTION:Join us for sensory-friendly hours at the Jackie Robinson Museum\, held on the first Friday afternoon of each month and specially designed for neurodivergent visitors\, including youth and their families\, teens\, and adults. ACCESS JRM Fridays will feature limited general admission for reduced crowds and quieter gallery spaces with exhibit audio reduced or silenced. \nIn addition to our KultureCity resources available at all times\, ACCESS JRM hours will include availability of a dedicated quiet zone and interpretive offerings such as tours\, picture book readings\, and tactile learning opportunities for inclusive exploration. All age groups are welcome! \nACCESS JRM is mostly a self-guided experience and not designed as a drop-off activity. All children and youth ticket holders must be accompanied by an adult.

DESCRIPTION:This year’s American Songbook celebrates the voices of women and nonbinary performers who have not only shaped the landscape of music\, but have also driven important conversations on gender\, identity\, and empowerment. Galvanized by a Sex Pistols concert\, the UK-born Marion Elliot adapted the sobriquet Poly Styrene\, formed a band and then promptly changed the history of rock by recording the seminal punk anthem Oh Bondage! Up Yours! Poly Styrene would only release one album in the 1970s\, but Germ Free Adolescents would prove to be one of the most influential LPs of its era. For this evening of music by and inspired by Poly Styrene and her band X-Ray Spex\, the American Songbook band—featuring Keyanna Hutchinson (guitar)\, Barbara Duncan (percussion)\, Flora Lucini (bass)\, and Elenna Canlas (keyboards and vocals)—will be joined by an array of musical luminaries\, all paying their respects to a true punk pioneer.
