DESCRIPTION:Building a Career as a Neurodivergent Artist  \n\nIn this virtual series\, participants will learn about building an artistic career\, while building community with other neurodivergent artists. This series will highlight how different artists earn money while practicing their art.  Each session will focus on a different art form. \n\nWednesday August 19\, 3-5pm – Writing with guest artist Ava X. Rigelhaupt\nWednesday August 26\, 3-5pm – Visual Arts with guest artist Emily Sara\nWednesday September 2\, 3-5pm – Performing Arts with guest artist Imani Russell \n\nAll sessions will take place on Zoom. Participants can attend one\, two\, or all three workshops. \nSessions include a conversation with a neurodivergent artist who will discuss their career path\, offer advice\, and answer questions about working as an artist. Participants will also have a chance to participate in a short art-making activity\, share some of their own art\, and connect with others. \nWorkshops are designed as a community space for neurodivergent artists including but not limited to individuals with autism and/or other intellectual / developmental disabilities.  Artists of all experience levels are welcome.  Support staff and caregivers are welcome to attend alongside artists but should not attend in place of an artist or to observe.   \n\nCheck out the registration page for full details and to RSVP.

SUMMARY:Lincoln Center Moments: Connected Perceptions and the Schumanns with the Festival Orchestra of Lincoln Center
DESCRIPTION:The Festival Orchestra of Lincoln Center comes together each summer to celebrate and share iconic orchestral works in dialogue with new and rediscovered music. This virtual program will feature clips from the 2025 world premiere of James Lee III’s Connected Perceptions and a performance of Robert Schumann’s Fourth Symphony\, shining a light on the transformative power of compassion and exploring the impact of composers Robert and Clara Schumann with special guests composer James Lee III and Festival Orchestra second flutist Tanya Witek. \nThis event is part of Lincoln Center Moments\, a free performance-based program specially designed for individuals with dementia and their caregivers. \nVirtual programs are 90 minutes long\, including live and recorded performances and activities facilitated by educators and music therapists that explore the work through discussion\, movement\, music\, and art-making. The work transforms Josie Robertson Plaza into a sacred sanctuary where all are invited to come together for unity and healing. Conceived and choreographed by Jacqulyn Buglisi to commemorate the loss of life and honor the bravery of all individuals affected by acts of terror\, war\, and oppression\, Table of Silence Project 9/11 has become an annual rite of remembrance and vision of hope. At the sound of the conch\, more than 150 dancers and musicians ascend onto the Plaza\, led by principal dancer Terese Capucilli and violinist Daniel Bernard Roumain. DESCRIPTION:Musician\, author\, and director Amyra León cannot be contained by genre or medium. The Harlem native promises to explore her multitudes in a performance that melds jazz with spoken word\, poetry\, and song. León’s voice\, tone\, and perspective echo the likes of Nina Simone\, and her often autobiographical work similarly focuses on Black liberation\, generational trauma\, and authenticity. A MacDowell Fellow and Artist in Residence at the Vineyard Theatre\, León’s solo work has also been featured in an NAACP Award-nominated PBS American Masters documentary. Ahead of the release of her third album\, join Amyra León in celebration of the art of survival and the healing power of music.

SUMMARY:Arts Careers Series: Building A Career as a Neurodivergent Artist
DESCRIPTION:Building a Career as a Neurodivergent Artist  \n\nIn this virtual series\, participants will learn about building an artistic career\, while building community with other neurodivergent artists. This series will highlight how different artists earn money while practicing their art.  Each session will focus on a different art form. \n\nWednesday August 19\, 3-5pm – Writing with guest artist Ava X. Rigelhaupt\nWednesday August 26\, 3-5pm – Visual Arts with guest artist Emily Sara\nWednesday September 2\, 3-5pm – Performing Arts with guest artist Imani Russell \n\nAll sessions will take place on Zoom. Participants can attend one\, two\, or all three workshops. \nSessions include a conversation with a neurodivergent artist who will discuss their career path\, offer advice\, and answer questions about working as an artist. Participants will also have a chance to participate in a short art-making activity\, share some of their own art\, and connect with others. \nWorkshops are designed as a community space for neurodivergent artists including but not limited to individuals with autism and/or other intellectual / developmental disabilities.  Artists of all experience levels are welcome.  Support staff and caregivers are welcome to attend alongside artists but should not attend in place of an artist or to observe.   \n\nCheck out the registration page for full details and to RSVP.
