SUMMARY:Mind's Eye at the Guggenheim - Jenny Holzer: Light Line
DESCRIPTION:Join us this month for a tour of our newest exhibition Jenny Holzer: Light Line.  \nThis exhibition presents a reimagination of Jenny Holzer’s landmark 1989 installation at the Guggenheim. Climbing all six ramps of the museum\, this LED site-specific installation transforms the building with a display of scrolling texts\, featuring selections from her iconic series\, such as “Truisms” and “Inflammatory Essays”. \nLight Line highlights the incisive use of the written word across time and media in Holzer’s practice. In addition to the LED sign\, the exhibition features a selection of Holzer’s works from the 1970s to the present day\, including paintings\, works on paper\, and stone pieces. \nThis month’s Mind’s Eye programming will be led by artist and educator Maya Jeffereis through verbal description and conversation. The virtual session will be accessible by web link or by dial-in phone number\, depending on your preference. \nThe program is repeated both online and in person. Please select one date to attend: \nMonday\, July 1: 6:30-8:30pm (virtual)\nWednesday\, July 3: 2-4pm (virtual)\nMonday\, July 8: 6:30-8:30pm (in-person)\nWednesday\, July 10: 2-4pm (in-person)\nFree\, but space is limited. RSVP is required three days before the program. To RSVP\, call 212 360 4355 or email access@guggenheim.org.

SUMMARY:Black Swan
DESCRIPTION:Natalie Portman gives a virtuosic\, Oscar-winning turn as Nina Sayers\, a sheltered but intensely driven young dancer with a ballet company in New York City\, on the verge of getting her big break: a chance to perform the dual role of the Black and White Swans in the company’s production of Swan Lake. When the talented\, worldly Lily (Mila Kunis) joins the company\, Nina fears that her own claim to the role could be in jeopardy\, and begins to experience hallucinations\, buckling under the compounding pressures and expectations imposed by the dance company’s icy\, egomaniacal artistic director (Vincent Cassel); her mother (Barbara Hershey)\, herself a former ballerina\, with whom Nina shares a claustrophobic city apartment; and her embittered predecessor\, the company’s recently ousted prima ballerina (Winona Ryder). Leaning into the expressionistic\, velvety chiaroscuro of Matthew Libatique’s 16mm cinematography\, director Darren Aronofsky conjures an almost uncanny\, starkly forbidding vision of Manhattan\, hinting that the punishing\, cutthroat conditions that animate Nina’s insular professional milieu are of a piece\, perhaps\, with the world that extends beyond the theater walls. \nIf you have any questions about this event\, please contact Guest Experience at 212-875-5456 or guestexperience@lincolncenter.org. \n\nAudio Description available\, providing live description for guests who are blind or have low vision through receivers and headsets

SUMMARY:Mind's Eye at the Guggenheim - By Way Of
DESCRIPTION:The Guggenheim celebrates the ideas\, people\, and art at the core of its mission by offering virtual and in-person Mind’s Eye programming for participants who are blind or have low vision. Join us in April for a tour of the exhibition By Way Of: Material and Motion in the Guggenheim Collection. \nHow has artistry evolved beyond traditional art making methods outside the studio’s boundaries? This exhibition will examine how contemporary artists enacted new ideas formed by the social and historical contexts of their time and pushed the boundaries of art practice and materials. Join us in exploring and interpreting a suite of works from the museum’s permanent collection inspired by the D.Daskalopoulos Collection Gift. Major artists from the Arte Povera movement of the 1960s and ‘70s\, like Jannis Kounellis and Mario Merz\, will share the galleries with artists working today\, such as Mona Hatoum\, Rashid Johnson\, and Senga Nengudi. \nApril’s Mind’s Eye programming will be led by artist and educator Maya Jeffereis through verbal description and conversation. The virtual session will be accessible by web link or by dial-in phone number\, depending on your preference. \nThe same program will be offered twice virtually and twice in person; please RSVP for only one session. \nRSVP: Monday\, April 1\, 6:30–8:30pm VIRTUAL  \nRSVP: Wednesday\, April 3\, 2:00–4:00pm VIRTUAL \nRSVP: Monday\, April 8\, 6:30–8:30pm IN PERSON \nRSVP: Wednesday\, April 10\, 2:00–4:00pm IN PERSON  \nFree\, but space is limited.
