SUMMARY:Lincoln Center Moments: Invoke: Songs are Stories
DESCRIPTION:Driven by a passion for storytelling invoke features original works composed by and for the group\, forming a unique contemporary repertoire inspired by many different musical styles – from minimalism\, to jazz\, to American fiddle tunes\, and bluegrass – and allowing them to show their real zeal for using song and text withing the realm of the string quertet. \nThis event is part of Lincoln Center Moments\, a free performance-based program specially designed for individuals with dementia and their caregivers. \nVirtual programs are 90 minutes long\, including live and recorded performances and activities facilitated by educators and music therapists that explore the work through discussion\, movement\, music\, and art-making. These programs are open to audiences impacted by dementia anywhere in the country with access to Zoom. \nThis virtual event is part of Lincoln Center Moments. DESCRIPTION:Members of the low-vision and blind community are invited to an exciting\, in-person Vibrant Verbal Description Tour at Poster House. This after-hours event will provide exclusive access to the museum’s exhibition\, Art Deco: Commercializing the Avant-Garde. \nThe tour will be led by our museum educator\, Maya Varadaraj. This intimate experience will allow guests to get up close with all the posters described\, as well as provide additional tactile objects to help illuminate the art. Light refreshments will be provided. \nWhile everyone is welcome\, Poster House offers Vibrant Verbal Description Tours specifically for community members who are blind\, have low vision\, or who benefit from verbal descriptions. \nTo RSVP or if you have any further accessibility needs\, please contact Poster House’s Accessibility Coordinator at at access@posterhouse.org or at ‪914.295.2387‬. \nMasks are encouraged during this event and are available free of charge at the museum.
