DESCRIPTION:Dancers\, actors\, and musicians from The Juilliard Green Club are thrilled to take the stage to present a multi-genre\, immersive concert experience. We ask our audience to consider our collective futures in the face of climate change amidst differences in background\, class\, resources\, and geographical location. Artists have always looked either to the past or forward to an unknown future\, often attempting to predict what awaits all of us with the knowledge that they have in their time. This need to consider our place and agency within a larger context is one artists always struggle with; but today\, it is something we all struggle with\, as the choices necessary to guarantee a safe future are not in our hands. We will consider art that seeks out the past\, present\, and future of our Earth to answer the following question: how have artists considered their futures in the past\, and what can we learn from them in imagining our own future?

DESCRIPTION:It’s a family affair at Lincoln Center when the acclaimed Venezuelan trombonist and bandleader Oscar Dudamel—father of the New York Philharmonic’s Music & Artistic Director\, Gustavo Dudamel—takes the stage with his Orchestra for a free concert and social dance event at the David Rubenstein Atrium. A musical prodigy\, Oscar Dudamel was enraptured in his youth by the magic of salsa when he first heard the sounds of Willie Colón. Dudamel received classical training within his hometown’s highly regarded El Sistema Music Education program and went on to play in classical orchestras\, but his fascination with the Caribbean rhythms of salsa never left him. His Caracas-based salsa orchestra has shared the stage with Rubén Blades\, Hector Lavoe\, Gilberto Santa Rosa\, Luis Enrique\, and many others. Dudamel’s headlining\, full-band Lincoln Center premiere celebrates the release of the artist’s new album Sueño Alcanzado.

Interpreters stand in a clearly visible position onstage and interpret the spoken and auditory elements of the performance using American Sign Language. Please join us from 3:30 – 4 pm for light refreshments. \nPaul Klee: Other Possible Worlds marks the first American museum exhibition to focus on the artist’s late work. In 1933\, Klee was forced to flee Germany in the face of Nazi persecution. His work was denounced as ‘degenerate\,’ a term used by Hitler to stigmatize artists and their art. In this period of exile Klee developed a new style\, one that was poetic\, exploratory\, and an artistic rebellion against authoritarianism. \nDue to limited capacity\, ASL students will not be admitted to the program and no voice interpretation will be provided.  \nAll Access Programs are free of charge and require advance reservation. Born in China and currently based in New York City\, Du Yun’s insatiable curiosity finds new voice in The Ocean Etched in the Forest (刻在森林的海). Over the past several years\, Du Yun and her collaborator Julian Crouch have worked closely with Jino artists from Yunnan province\, including He Guiying\, the national inheritor of his people’s unique heritage. Living almost entirely isolated from urban society until 1979\, the Jino people have maintained their distinct culture and ecologically grounded mindset amid rampant modernization. In collaboration with Du Yun and Crouch\, Guiying has been recording Jino children from Bapiao Village as they perform nearly forgotten local folk songs. These recordings\, merged with music from Du Yun’s band OK MISS and live theatrical elements\, form Ocean’s original musical tapestry for a concert that transcends time and geography. Join us for a work that highlights the intersections of ancient tradition and modern methodology\, folk tales and contemporary storytelling\, and generations living and gone. Bringing together voices from music\, neuroscience\, public health\, and community practice\, this event explores how collective singing can be understood not only as cultural expression\, but as a scalable public health resource. Through discussion and musical excerpts from both works\, audiences are invited into the creative process and the artistic dialogue between composer and orchestra. The evening culminates with a performance of Schumann’s Symphony No. 1 in its entirety\, bringing the journey full circle. No prior knowledge required—just come ready to listen\, learn\, and experience the music in a new way! Together\, speakers invite audiences to consider how music continues to help us listen more closely to the mind\, deepen empathy\, and create spaces for reflection and healing.
