SUMMARY:Table of Silence Project 9/11
DESCRIPTION:Lincoln Center\, in collaboration with Buglisi Dance Theatre\, presents the iconic Table of Silence Project 9/11 ritual performance\, an artistic call to action for peace. The work transforms Josie Robertson Plaza into a sacred sanctuary where all are invited to come together for unity and healing. Conceived and choreographed by Jacqulyn Buglisi to commemorate the loss of life and honor the bravery of all individuals affected by acts of terror\, war\, and oppression\, Table of Silence Project 9/11 has become an annual rite of remembrance and vision of hope. At the sound of the conch\, more than 150 dancers and musicians ascend onto the Plaza\, led by principal dancer Terese Capucilli and violinist Daniel Bernard Roumain. DESCRIPTION:Musician\, author\, and director Amyra León cannot be contained by genre or medium. The Harlem native promises to explore her multitudes in a performance that melds jazz with spoken word\, poetry\, and song. León’s voice\, tone\, and perspective echo the likes of Nina Simone\, and her often autobiographical work similarly focuses on Black liberation\, generational trauma\, and authenticity. A MacDowell Fellow and Artist in Residence at the Vineyard Theatre\, León’s solo work has also been featured in an NAACP Award-nominated PBS American Masters documentary. Ahead of the release of her third album\, join Amyra León in celebration of the art of survival and the healing power of music.

DESCRIPTION:Spend an evening engaging with Disability Justice practices through drop-in art making and disability community connection. \nAccessibility: ASL interpreters\, assistive listening devices\, CART (live captioning)\, ear defenders\, fidget tools\, wobbly cushions\, lap desks\, adaptive art-making materials\, sighted guides and verbal descriptions\, seats with and without armrests\, and air purifiers are available. \nMasks are strongly encouraged and will be provided at this event. \nVisitors may borrow manual wheelchairs (standard and wide) from Security at the 81st Street entrance on a first-come\, first-served basis. \nIf you have further access needs that aren’t met by the list above\, please contact access@metmuseum.org or 212.650.2010. \nThis program is designed to support and welcome disabled QTBIPOC (Queer\, Trans\, Black\, Indigenous People of Color) along with their care partners and friends. \nFormat: This drop-in program takes place in the classroom.
