Through mixed-media storytelling\, games\, and music\, we’ll explore some of the greatest firsts in history—from the first dog to travel around the world\, to the first woman to row across the Atlantic Ocean. Audiences will even learn a song that the first all-woman string band in American history played for the King of England. DESCRIPTION:A one-night-only celebration of the profound legacy of Dr. Bernice Johnson Reagon\, Over My Head\, I Hear Freedom In the Air brings together live music and personal testimonies\, to honor one of America’s most singular creative and intellectual voices\, curated by her daughter and collaborator Toshi Reagon. Performer\, composer\, historian\, and founder of the a cappella ensemble Sweet Honey in the Rock\, Dr. Reagon spent more than five decades at the intersection of art and activism. A child of Southwest Georgia\, Dr. Reagon came of age singing in the Civil Rights Movement\, first as a member of the SNCC Freedom Singers in the 1960s. A leading authority in African-American cultural history and a Presidential Medal honoree\, Dr. Reagon produced more than two dozen albums and co-composed three operas with Toshi Reagon: including Octavia E. Butler’s Parable of the Sower. The evening features appearances by artists and activists including Angela Davis\, Lizz Wright\, Alexis Pauline Gumbs and The Original SNCC Freedom Singers; presented in collaboration with Wise Reagon Arts.

DESCRIPTION:Be a part of one of NYC’s most joyous participatory community choirs at Lincoln Center’s season-long Come & Sing series\, led by 2026-2027 Choir Director Ben Bram. No musical preparation or singing experience is necessary for these free events\, just be prepared to share your voice! \nAs part of Lincoln Center’s Open House on October 25\, this edition of Come & Sing is presented in collaboration with The Climate Sing project. Climate Sing brings people together through passionate\, original music to get more people joyfully singing and loving on our planet. Join us in learning and singing two brand new commissioned songs\, “Goldie” by Britton Smith and “State of Emergency” by Mumu Fresh\, that celebrate our relationship to the planet. And we’ll do a group sing of “Take Me Home\, Country Roads” by John Denver. Climate Sing is an ongoing project that will ultimately commission 12 new songs about Planet Earth\, all available for public use on the Climate Sing website.
