SUMMARY:ACCESS JRM: Sensory-Friendly Hours
DESCRIPTION:Join us for sensory-friendly hours at the Jackie Robinson Museum\, held on the first Friday afternoon of each month and specially designed for neurodivergent visitors\, including youth and their families\, teens\, and adults. ACCESS JRM Fridays will feature limited general admission for reduced crowds and quieter gallery spaces with exhibit audio reduced or silenced. \nIn addition to our KultureCity resources available at all times\, ACCESS JRM hours will include availability of a dedicated quiet zone and interpretive offerings such as tours\, picture book readings\, and tactile learning opportunities for inclusive exploration. All age groups are welcome! \nACCESS JRM is mostly a self-guided experience and not designed as a drop-off activity. All children and youth ticket holders must be accompanied by an adult.

To learn more about relaxed performances\, visit this page. \nJonathon Heyward\, conductor \nLudwig van Beethoven Symphony No. 6 (“Pastoral”) \nAs part of Summer for the City\, we are delighted to invite you to a free Open Rehearsal with the Festival Orchestra of Lincoln Center on July 23\, 2024 from 10:30–11:45 am at David Geffen Hall. This Relaxed Rehearsal will provide a peek behind the scenes as the Festival Orchestra prepares a piece for performance. Bask in Beethoven’s “Pastoral” Symphony\, inspired by his love of nature and walks in the country. \nWhat to expect at a Relaxed Open Rehearsal:–Guests are able to enter and leave the audience space throughout the event\, as needed.–Guests can vocalize or move throughout audience space.–Fellow audience members are asked to create a no “shushing” zone.–House lights are adjusted so that venue is never fully dark.–Attention to bright lights\, loud noises\, and surprise sensory elements are described in advance.–Chill Out Space is available for guests to take a break and rejoin the rehearsal when ready.–A visual guide\, with clear instructions\, will be shared before event.–Noise-reducing headphones and fidgets are available to borrow.–Staff members and artists are trained in access and inclusion best practices. \nPlease note: This is a working rehearsal\, open to an audience to observe. DESCRIPTION:Join us for an afternoon of drop-in art making and connection for the disability community. \nExperiment with different art materials and techniques\, learn from artist demonstrations\, visit The Harlem Renaissance and Transatlantic Modernism exhibition\, and create your own art in a studio setting. All materials will be provided. Feel free to bring your sketchbook. \nWhile open to all\, this program is designed to support and welcome disabled QTBIPOC (Queer\, Trans\, Black\, Indigenous People of Color) along with their care partners and friends. \nAssistive listening devices\, captioning\, ASL interpretation\, sighted guides\, verbal description\, a quiet space\, ear defenders\, fidgets\, and adaptive art materials are available. Then\, try your hand at making a sculptural portrait or self-portrait. All materials will be provided. \nCollaging Ourselves: 2D Art Making\nStudio\, Uris Center for Education\, Ground Floor\nWork on your own art project using a wide variety of materials and receive expert guidance from Met teaching artists.
