SUMMARY:Soundcake: Aural Confections by Sapphira Cristál & Monét X Change
DESCRIPTION:New commission by Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts \nFor the must-see opening night performance of Summer for the City\, Lincoln Center presents a sparkling new commission from director James Blaszko that unites the beauty of opera and the fabulosity of drag\, paying homage to the queerness and gender expansion present in both. Soundcake marks the debut duet of two superstar queens from the blockbuster reality competition RuPaul’s Drag Race—All-Star champion Monét X Change and the latest season competitor Sapphira Cristál—singing a repertoire of time-tested standards and original pieces that reflect their personal journeys across classical vocal training to superstardom. Monét and Sapphira will be joined by the Queen of Classical Music\, Drag Race alumna and violinist Thorgy Thor\, and further supported by a flawless\, begowned orchestra conducted by David Bloom. Cancel whatever else you had on your calendar; you’ll never forgive yourself if you miss Soundcake. \nIf you have any questions about this event\, please contact Guest Experience at 212-875-5456 or guestexperience@lincolncenter.org. \nASL-viewing seats are marked with signs.

DESCRIPTION:2–4 pm \nMartha A. and Robert S. Rubin Pavilion\, 1st Floor \n\nRegister for free\n  \nIn honor of Earth Day\, join Rachel Cargle\, Céline Semaan\, and Jenn Tardif for a conversation that will expand on the concept of climate rage—a cousin of climate grief\, or the experience of anxiety and mourning over ecological loss. SUMMARY:Interpreting MoMA: Prints and Process
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for MoMA’s bimonthly program welcoming individuals who are Deaf or hard of hearing to participate in an ASL-interpreted private gallery talk focusing on one of MoMA’s exhibitions\, along with a wine and snack reception. \nIn March\, we will explore the exhibition New Ground: Jacob Samuel and Contemporary Etching with curator Esther Adler. Space is limited and advance registration is required. Registration opens on February 14\, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. \nFor more information or to register\, please email AccessPrograms@moma.org or call Access Programs at (212) 408-6447.

Master printer and publisher Jacob Samuel has brought etchings—prints created by transferring ink from a metal plate to paper—into the 21st century through collaborations with more than 60 contemporary artists. Together we will learn about the flexibility of etching and its reinvention for a contemporary world through Samuel’s printmaking tools and processes. \nInterpreting MoMA is offered free of charge. Space is limited and advance registration is required. Registration opens on February 14\, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. \nFor more information or to register\, please email AccessPrograms@moma.org or call Access Programs at (212) 408-6447.

SUMMARY:Sakasaka
DESCRIPTION:To request Audio Description seats\, submit the Ticket Request Form or contact access@lincolncenter.org or 212-875-5375. The performance on December 17th is also a Relaxed Performance. \nJoyful\, silly\, and… soaking wet! A delightful wordless comedy for all ages created by Madagascar’s La Compagnie Zolobe\, Sakasaka will add joy to everyone’s day. In the great tradition of slapstick comedians like The Three Stooges\, La Compagnie Zolobe’s clown trio uses physical comedy and body language to tell their story while remaining completely silent. They are accompanied by a musician who plays traditional instruments: kabosy (a rectangular guitar) and djembe (drum). The word sakasaka means “thirsty” in Malagasy and\, using just a mop\, bucket and a few bottles of water\, the clowns take audiences on hilarious adventures that gently and sincerely explore the preciousness of water. Laugh out loud and learn important lessons as you go on a journey of dance\, music\, splashes\, and joy!
