DESCRIPTION:Join Poster House on the First Friday of every month for free admission and extended hours! Explore the museum’s latest exhibitions and get in on the fun by attending a tour\, workshop\, performance\, or activity throughout the day. Every First Friday is different\, offering unique opportunities to engage with rotating exhibitions and the permanent collection. This month\, our education team is taking over First Friday to  highlight the museum’s education offerings. \nPoster House is thrilled to welcome Lorenzo Van Ness (they/them/elle) from Sins Invalid for a screening and discussion of Loving with Three Hearts. After the viewing\, there will be a discussion on the intersection of climate justice and disability justice. Special attention will be paid to how Sins Invalid utilizes performance to explore these connections. \nPlease note that while Poster House is mask-optional\, this event is mask-mandatory. Masks and clear masks will be provided. \n  \nAccessibility notes: This film will have an audio description and captions. There will be an ASL interpreter and assistive listening devices provided. Join Poster House Accessibility Coordinator Sarit Cahana in conversation with Kirsten Sweeny\, Accessibility & Inclusion Manager at Cooper Hewitt\, Smithsonian Design Museum for an engaging conversation on the important relationship between disability pride and disability justice. Questions strongly encouraged! \n2pm Woodblock Inspired Printing Workshop\nInspired by the ukiyo-e tradition featured in the acclaimed exhibition Made in Japan: 20th-Century Poster Art\, join artist and educator Sato Yamamoto for a hands-on linocut printing workshop. Learn the basics of this modern printing technique while creating your own print. \n4pm Crip Camp Screening\nCrip Camp is a documentary that tells the story of Camp Jened\, a summer camp for people with disabilities\, and the role the camp played in spurring the 1990 passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Learn more about this important piece of American and disabled history\, including the little-known role the Black Panther Party played in supporting disability advocates. \n5pm D/deaf & Hard-of-hearing Mixer\nPoster House is pleased to welcome New York City Black Deaf Advocates for a D/deaf and hard-of-hearing mixer. Join us at Café des Affiches to mix and mingle in a Deaf/hard-of-hearing affirming environment. Attendees receive 10% off in the café during the mixer. \nAccessibility: ASL interpreters & Tactile ASL Interpreters will be available. \n7pm Carrie Hawks Comedy Set\nFilmmaker\, artist\, and comedian\, Carrie Hawks will stop by Poster House for a hilariously off-beat comedy set. Hawks will recount the relief of their autism diagnosis\, delve into the mysteries of bathroom lines\, tell tales about eating compliment sandwiches\, and probably say a thing or two about snails. \n7:15pm Stella Rise Performance\nPoster House is pleased to welcome Stella Rise\, New York City’s premiere disabled drag queen\, to the museum for a special performance! Bring your dollar bills and your enthusiasm for this one-of-a-kind drag performance.
