Join us in November to explore the exhibition Going Dark: The Contemporary Figure at the Edge of Visibility. \nThis exhibition highlights a multigenerational group of artists who engage the “semi-visible” figure—representations that are partially obscured\, including\, in some cases\, literally darkened. Using the concept of “going dark\,” these artists reflect on enduring and urgent questions surrounding social visibility. Visitors encounter in the show a variety of mediums\, including painting\, sculpture\, photography\, video\, and installation. Designed by 2023 Poet-in-Residence Ama Codjoe\, this convening of discussion and exchange will illuminate poetry’s role in enabling humans to imagine\, dream\, and craft the kind of language that precipitates political action\, communal nurturing\, and social change. \n\n \n\nNovember 10 \n\n\nPoetry Is Not a Luxury Day 1: Poetic Freedom \n\n\n5-6:30pm ET (Virtual) \nLink to event page \n\n\nThis first day of the Poetry Is Not a Luxury program\, entitled Poetic Freedom\, will feature a live taping of the Poetry Foundation’s VS podcast with co-hosts Ajanaé Dawkins and Brittany Rogers and guests Arisa White and LaTasha N. Nevada Diggs.
