SUMMARY:Mind's Eye at the Guggenheim - By Way Of
DESCRIPTION:The Guggenheim celebrates the ideas\, people\, and art at the core of its mission by offering virtual and in-person Mind’s Eye programming for participants who are blind or have low vision. Join us in April for a tour of the exhibition By Way Of: Material and Motion in the Guggenheim Collection. \nHow has artistry evolved beyond traditional art making methods outside the studio’s boundaries? Join us in exploring and interpreting a suite of works from the museum’s permanent collection inspired by the D.Daskalopoulos Collection Gift. Major artists from the Arte Povera movement of the 1960s and ‘70s\, like Jannis Kounellis and Mario Merz\, will share the galleries with artists working today\, such as Mona Hatoum\, Rashid Johnson\, and Senga Nengudi. \nApril’s Mind’s Eye programming will be led by artist and educator Maya Jeffereis through verbal description and conversation. The virtual session will be accessible by web link or by dial-in phone number\, depending on your preference. \nThe same program will be offered twice virtually and twice in person; please RSVP for only one session. \nRSVP: Monday\, April 1\, 6:30–8:30pm VIRTUAL  \nRSVP: Wednesday\, April 3\, 2:00–4:00pm VIRTUAL \nRSVP: Monday\, April 8\, 6:30–8:30pm IN PERSON \nRSVP: Wednesday\, April 10\, 2:00–4:00pm IN PERSON  \nFree\, but space is limited. SUMMARY:Guggenheim Mind's Eye: Going Dark\, Part 3
DESCRIPTION:The Guggenheim is continuing to celebrate the ideas\, people\, and art at the core of its mission by offering virtual and in-person Mind’s Eye programming for participants who are blind or have low vision. Join us in March for a tour of the exhibition Going Dark: The Contemporary Figure at the Edge of Visibility. In the third installment of Mind’s Eye: Going Dark\, we will cover new artworks. Prior attendance at the program is not necessary to enjoy part 3 of our exploration of the exhibition.  \nThis exhibition highlights a multigenerational group of artists who engage the “semi-visible” figure—representations that are partially obscured\, including\, in some cases\, literally darkened. Using the concept of “going dark\,” these artists reflect on enduring and urgent questions surrounding social visibility. Visitors encounter in the show a variety of mediums\, including painting\, sculpture\, photography\, video\, and installation. Join us in exploring and interpreting the semi-visible figure during both in-person and virtual sessions. \nMarch Mind’s Eye programming will be led by artist and educator Maya Jeffereis through verbal description and conversation. The virtual session will be accessible by web link or by dial-in phone number\, depending on your preference. \nVirtual programs: \n\nMonday\, March 4\, 6:30–8:30pm ET\nWednesday\, March 6\, 2–4 pm ET\n\nIn-Person programs: \n\nMonday\, March 11\, 6:30–8:30 pm ET\nWednesday\, March 13\, 2–4 pm ET\n\nFree\, but space is limited. RSVP is required three days before the program. To RSVP\, call 212 360 4355 or email access@guggenheim.org.

Nevada Diggs. Attendees in this participatory event will have the chance to reflect on notions of care\, freedom\, and intimacy through group conversation\, interactive games\, and engaged listening. \n\n\nIn-person tickets for this program are sold out\, but the event will be livestreamed on the Poetry Foundation’s website. This program will include ASL interpretation and auto-captioning. \n\n\n  \n\n\nNovember 11 \n\n\nPoetry Is Not a Luxury Day 2: Poetic License  \n\n\n1-5pm ET (In-Person) \n\n\nLink to RSVP \n\n\nIn this second day of the Poetry Is Not a Luxury program\, entitled Poetic License\, poets and artists will share new work\, work in-progress\, and artistic reflections that express Lorde’s conviction that “poetry is not a luxury.” Featuring panel discussions\, poetry readings\, and performances\, the day will be interspersed with moments of grounding and personal reflection alongside pauses for inter-audience dialogue and connection. SUMMARY:Mind's Eye at the Guggenheim - Mystical and Macabre
DESCRIPTION:The Guggenheim is continuing to celebrate the ideas\, people\, and art at the core of its mission by offering Mind’s Eye programming for participants who are blind or have low vision. Join us for virtual programs in October celebrating the spooky season. \nWe’ll be exploring artworks from the Guggenheim’s collection with our antennae tuned to the eerie frequency. Go beyond the grave to explore art connected to the afterlife. Discover the unseen presences that might be haunting some artists’ work. Listen to new spooky stories about some familiar artworks. (Never fear\, this program is safe for those who—like your educator—are scared of ghostly tales.) \nOctober Mind’s Eye programming will be led by educator Rachel Ropeik through verbal description and conversation. The sessions will be accessible by web link or by dial-in phone number\, depending on your preference. \nPlease select a date: Monday\, October 23 from 6:30-8:30pm or Wednesday\, October 25 from 2:00-4:00pm \nFree\, but space is limited. SUMMARY:Mind's Eye at the Guggenheim - Sarah Sze: Timelapse
DESCRIPTION:The Guggenheim is continuing to celebrate the ideas\, people\, and art at the core of its mission by offering virtual and in-person Mind’s Eye programming for participants who are blind or have low vision. Join us in July to explore the current exhibition Sarah Sze: Timelapse. \nIn this solo exhibition\, artist Sarah Sze reimagines the Guggenheim’s iconic Frank Lloyd Wright–designed building as a public timekeeper\, creating immersive environments and a series of site-specific multisensory installations to activate our collective experience and memory. Visitors encounter a variety of mediums in the show including painting\, sculpture\, sound\, video\, and architecture. \nJoin us in exploring and challenging concepts of time and memory. As a group\, we’ll engage with\, in the artist’s own words\, “a contemplation on how we mark time and how time marks us.” In both in-person and virtual sessions\, we’ll have a chance to reflect on and respond to the passage of time. \nJuly’s Mind’s Eye programming will be led by artist and educator Rukhshan Haque through verbal description and conversation. The virtual session will be accessible by web link or by dial-in phone number\, depending on your preference. \nThe same program will be offered twice virtually and twice in person; please RSVP for only one session.  \nVirtual Program Dates: \n\nMonday\, July 17\, 6:30-8:30pm ET\nWednesday\, July 19\, 2:00-4:00pm ET\n\nIn-Person Program Dates: \n\nMonday\, July 24\, 6:30-8:30pm ET\nWednesday\, July 26\, 2:00-4:00pm ET\n\nFree\, but space is limited. RSVP is required three days before the program. \nTo RSVP\, call 212 360 4355 or email access@guggenheim.org.
